Students will complete a professional equity research paper that can be submitted for publication through financial institutions or platforms. Many go on to use their work to compete in finance and investment pitch competitions, create their own investment portfolios, or even launch independent equity research ventures. This project offers a powerful way to build real-world experience and stand out in college applications or future career opportunities.

While a background in AP Economics or related finance experience can be helpful, it is not required. What matters most is your motivation and willingness to put in the effort. This research program is designed to guide you step by step through hands-on, project-based learning. As long as you stay committed, you will be able to create a meaningful and tangible research project, whether you are an upperclassman in high school or an incoming college freshman. Most successful students in previous years have dedicated an additional 1 to 3 hours outside of each mentorship session to deepen their learning and strengthen their final outcome.
-
While all research projects fall under the broader field of finance, each student will pursue a unique direction and topic, resulting in an original and individualized outcome. Collaboration and peer support are encouraged, but each student will ultimately produce a distinct, tangible result that helps them stand out and strengthen college applications, supporting internship opportunities, and more.
-
The program is primarily conducted online, with most project meetings held via Zoom. However, there are in-person components as well, including a final Demo Day with judges at the Path Mentors office in Palo Alto. Mentees will also have the opportunity to join a semi-annual in-person community gathering later in the year. Dates and details will be announced in advance
-
If the program reaches maximum capacity, the registration page will redirect you to a waitlist form. You're welcome to join the waitlist in case any spots open up due to special circumstances. We will contact students in the order they joined the waitlist
